Annabel Anderson

 Current &  2014 SUP WORLD #1 Ranking

dominant force, the most consistent female SUP athlete, Annabel Anderson’s resume reads like a roll call of the most prestigious events in Stand Up Paddling from around the world and she can lay claim to having her name on the trophies of almost all of them – most, many times over.

While growing up quintessentially Kiwi, her pathway to where she is now is anything but normal.

Born in the mountains, farm life, horses, tennis, athletics, skiing and almost any other sport that was going was the rigueur du jour and as far from the ocean as you could get.

High school brought the challenge of juggling multiple sports and crisscrossing seasons and the uglier side of what can happen when things go wrong – like when her left leg shattered in a skiing accident or her right knee blew apart 11 months later.

As university came to a close and the constant frustration of repetitive injuries forced the end of a burgeoning triathlon career, the corporate world reluctantly beckoned.

It would take a redundancy, the global financial crises and moving from New Zealand to the other side of the world and a strange mix of events to point to the current fork in the road.

A chance decision to attend the Jever Stand Up Paddling World Cup in late 2010 in Germany while working in London kicked open a door to her old past, only this time it was on the water. The rest is as it stands – history in the making.

Annabel is an Ambassador for SUBARU NZ, Lahui Kai Paddleboards and SUP ATX.

The Nanea Hybrid Kini was my first Mahiku pant. The beautiful turquoise color was instantly uplifting and energizing while the trademark two tone print was just plain cool. It was a complete departure from my usual monotonous black cotton gear and I loved it. I instantly appreciated the tight fit, it felt snug but flexible enough to stretch and strong enough to withstand my crazy active life.

I am so honored to be a Mahiku ambassador, I have witnessed the integrity and process by which these products are made and draw such inspiration from Ingo and Ehiku’s natural healthy lifestyle. I wear Mahiku every day, in class, on the run, in the water and on the go. The colors inspire me, the cut is flattering but functional and it is my strong sexy armor when I train hard and break a sweat!!
